Jobs and employment

Choosing one´s career is an important step in everybody´s life. Most children have only vague ideas of what they want to be. At first they admire so called ´hero´professions such as pilots, astronauts, fireman or policemen. Girls on the other hand dream of becoming actreses, models, singers or ballet dancers. But as they are getting older and mature their criteria for choosing their profession are becoming more and more realistic, because they have to coordinate their own interests, hopes, desires so taht they meet demand for particular jobs in free market economy. The influence of their parents, teachers, relatives and friends can´t be disregarded.

Teenagers between the age of sixteen and eighteen are usually expected to make their choice whether to continuetheir education or enter the world of work. The eager ones who want to earn some money as soon as possible might face a lot of problems finding a suitable job because or lack of qualifications and expierence. Thr job market has only odd jobs or seasonal jobs to offer them. Sooner or later most of them reassess their hasty decision and enrol in courses or trainings to get better qualification.

Looking for a job is quite a demanding occupation in itself, but there are many resources to help those who want to find a job. Advertisements in national and local newspapers are one of them. There are quite a lot of local or regional institutons such as job centres or employment offices which can be helpful mostly in organizing re-qualification trainigsfor those who have been made redundant. Usinf former colleaques´help or order work contacts is also highly recommended.

Although the right ro work is one of the basic rights of human beings, everybody must be prepared or the possibility of losing their job. Perhaps one is either sacked or just laid off because there is not enough work temporatily or is being made redundant because a company economizes and reduces staff. Whatever the reason, evrybody has to cope. In spite of the fact that there is a part of the population considering being unemployed more beneficial to going ro work, the majority regard work as crucial to their existence.

If they are affected by a stressful situation of being out of work they should come to grips with it. On the other hand, the government in countries with high unemployment rates should propose measures which would improve employment policy and if people become umenployed or redundant, unemployment benefits should motivate them to work and not stay out of work.
